Backing Options - InterfaceFLOR

Backing Options

InterfaceFLOR backing systems are designed to provide optimum performance for a wide variety of applications. Our resilient backing systems prevent the rucking, ravelling and delamination problems that often occur in conventional carpets in high traffic environments, a critical factor in maintaining occupational health and safety standards in commercial facilities.

All InterfaceFLOR backing systems are impermeable, providing easier cleanup and stain minimisation, without the slip hazards moisture creates on hard floors.

GlasBac

GlasBac set the industry standard more than 30 years ago and is still unsurpassed in terms of durability, dimensional stability and flexibility. Made from reinforced fibreglass thermoplastic composites recyclable at end of life, GlasBac keeps carpet out of the landfill. GlasBac provides outstanding drape qualities to ensure the product lies extremely flat on the floor

GlasBacRE

GlasBacRE offers all the same performance benefits of GlasBac but with greater recycled content. Depending on the style and colourway, products backed with GlasBacRE backing contain up to 60% total recycled content.

CushionBac

CushionBac is a resilient closed cell cushion backing, a high density material with excellent sound & shock absorbing capabilities. CushionBac is laminated to GlasBac backings, providing superior underfoot comfort and positive firmness. It absorbs shock, reduces noise and provides outstanding moisture impermeability.

Best Practice PVC

Best Practice PVC backing that complies with the GBCA Best Practice requirements are available now. InterfaceFLOR can provide written declaration of compliance which is acceptable to the GBCA as demonstration that InterfaceFLOR carpet tile backing is compliant with the Best Practice Guidelines.

Declarations can be provided specifically for your project upon request.

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) are compounds which contain volatile carbon based substances. Simply, that means they release gases as they age. These gases usually have a detachable odour, but not always. This is not a new phenomenon; the smell of a new car and the smell of a freshly cut lawn are examples of VOC off gassing.

Interface, Inc. recognised the significance of the overall Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) issue, and the specific impact VOC’s have on IAQ, several years ago. Interface Research Corporation began evaluating each of the components of our carpet tile as well as the finished products.

Sound Absorption

The tests described in these reports were carried out at the request of InterfaceFLOR to determine the sound absorption coefficients of a sample of CUSHIONBAC 407g/m2 and CUSHIONBAC 746g/m2 carpet tiles without additional underlay.

The tests were carried out using the Reverberation Chamber of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology Limited.

Testing has been carried out in accordance with AS ISO 354–2006 “Acoustics: Measurement of sound absorption in a reverberation room”. The weighted sound absorption coefficient has been determined in accordance with AS ISO 11654-2002 “Acoustics: Sound Absorbers for Use in Buildings - Rating of sound absorption”.

The equipment used to perform these tests has been calibrated at an accredited laboratory and is in current calibration.
