Optus commissioned Hassell with the task of designing an environment that clearly distinguished the different working spaces in the Optus campus. To achieve this goal Hassell designed the new environment around the concept of urban villages.
Through colour and texture InterfaceFLOR and Hassell worked together to create a carpet design that assisted in the creation of character and charm for each of the six villages. With similar landmarks it was important to the design team to create a sense of ownership for the different occupants. Distinctive carpet products like Polestar, Solid Foundation and Psychedelic Time (Time Warp collection) helped the architects create a sense of style to drive identity and belonging. The customised carpet design and colour solutions were able to be manufactured locally which reduced lead times and kept the project Australian made.
The result delivered on the project goal to create “one Optus” where choice, freedom and community helped attract, develop and inspire the best talent.
