Addressing the urgent environmental concern of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, InterfaceFLOR’s Cool Carpet programme provides ‘climate neutral’ floorcoverings.
Cool Carpet™ is a program developed by Interface, Inc as part of its Mission Zero journey. The Cool Carpet results in ‘climate neutral’ floorcoverings, meaning that all greenhouse gas emissions calculated over the entire life cycle of your carpet are offset or balanced.
Encompassing emissions over all phases of our products’ life cycle, GHG calculations include raw material acquisition and processing, manufacturing, transportation, end-of-life and even the energy used to vacuum and maintain the product.
While InterfaceFLOR products’ total life cycle GHG emissions have been reduced to the lowest possible levels as a result of our “Mission Zero” pledge, Cool Carpet can even more actively address the urgent environmental concern of GHG build-up. GHG emissions are offset by the purchase of credits from sources such as Meridian Energy’s Wind Farm in New Zealand.
From the 1st of July 2007 the program is standard for all InterfaceFLOR's products. The Cool Carpet™ program is independently verified and certified by the ‘Climate Neutral Network’ and end-users and specifiers will receive a certificate.
Cool Carpet has become a popular choice for a growing number of environmentally conscious specifiers, who are also concerned with the long term effects of their product choices and investments.
