Redesign Commerce
Take Care of Business.
To achieve Mission Zero, we have to create a new business model that demonstrates and promotes the value of sustainability-based commerce. We believe the solution lies in focusing on the delivery of service and value instead of the delivery of material, and engaging other organisations to create policies and incentives encouraging sustainable, more transparent practices.
Our current targets:
- Shift emphasis from product to service.
- Measure and evaluate environmental footprint.
- Redesign product and product offers.
Our dedication to developing longer-lasting, higher-performing products reduces material consumption and gives you better value over time. Our purchasing practices encourage external organizations and customers to create policies and market incentives that promote sustainable practices. We know we have a long road ahead of us, but that road is filled with opportunity. Here are some of the ways we've redesigned commerce in our industry; what will be next?
Sustainability Reporting
- We're committed to the most transparent conduct of business possible. Sharing information on our successes and challenges invites creative dialogue and better solutions.
- We publish our actions, impacts and results in a number of public forums and in printed materials.
- InterfaceFLOR has received a number of independent certifications and registrations, such as ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) and 9001 (Quality Management System) and Climate Neutral products and transportation, to help us keep track of our Mission Zero progress.
ReEntry® Carpet Reclamation Program
- Launched in 1994, ReEntry provides a path by which vinyl - backed carpet product can be diverted from landfills.
- Globally, we've diverted nearly 30 million kilograms of carpet from landfills.
Invention of i2™ Product Line
- Designed by David Oakey using "biomimicry"-the philosophy that the natural world can teach and guide us in designing man-made products and systems.
- i2 products offer an unequalled combination of functionality and design; they are more flexible and less wasteful.
- Inspired by nature's unique, diverse patterns, no two tiles are alike.
- i2's mergeable dye lots mean products always match, so there's no need for attic stock.
- i2 Non Directional modules work well together no matter how they are installed.
Introduction of Cool Carpet™
- InterfaceFLOR introduced the industry's first "climate-neutral" carpet option - Cool Carpet -which is standard on all of our i2™ modular products and is available on all other InterfaceFLOR products.
- "Climate neutral" means that the greenhouse gases emitted during a product's lifecycle are balanced by InterfaceFLOR investments in emissions offsets, resulting in a net-zero impact on the Earth's climate.
- The Cool Carpet program is certified by the Climate Neutral Network.
